Halloween Fun (Part 2)
Post Date: Oct 16 2014
In our last blog post, we gave you a preview of three Halloween events we love here in Williston: the Run for Help Zombie 5k (Oct 25), the Dark Acres Haunted Corn Maze (next two weekends) and Downtowners Association Trail of Treats (afternoon of Oct 31).

A few more have wandered onto our radar that we want to share with you.

For those who love a little history with their Halloween, you cannot miss the Fort Buford Cemetery Walk this Saturday from dusk until 9pm. Visit ghosts of the Old West as they relate their experiences and how they came to reside in the graveyard at Fort Buford. This event is appropriate for all ages and is a great opportunity to get out to Fort Buford, ND Governor’s 2014 Attraction of the Year!

The Annual All City Halloween Party will take place the evening of October 31 at the Raymond Family Community Center. This is a fun alternative evening trick-or-treating event for those looking for something instead of or in addition to your traditional door-to-door Halloween experience. In fact, many families go straight from the Trail of Treats downtown to the Raymond Center for the Halloween party. Since the party takes place inside, it is kid friendly regardless of the weather! 5:30-8pm for children age preschool – 6th grade. If you have questions about the All City Halloween Party, contact Jess at 774-9773.

There is also an online pumpkin carving contest going on right now, courtesy of Williston Parks and Recreation. When you carve your pumpkin, take a picture of the finished product and send it to baylee@wprd.us for a chance to win a birthday party room at the Williston ARC! Pictures will be posted on the Parks Facebook page and public voting will determine the favorite. Voting will take place October 29-30 and a winner announced on October 31. If you have any questions, give them a call at 701-774-9773.

As always, keep your eyes wide open for kids trick-or-treating on October 31. Many families love traditional trick-or-treating and there will be many out knocking on doors after dark. If your home is open for business, leave your light on! If you are ready to retire for the night, turn your front door light off. Have a safe and happy Halloween.
